CME 5 Plus pumps are built on the basis of CME pumps. In addition to the features of a standard CME, the CME 5 Plus Pump System includes a pressure sensor, 1/2 gallon (2 liter) expansion tank, and discharge piping making it a complete package ready for constant pressure applications. The purpose of the expansion tank is not to prevent the pump from cycling as is typically the case in traditional pump/pressure tank set-ups. Instead, the purpose of the expansion tank with CME 5 Plus pumps is to prevent water hammer. When a water valve is closed (in your home, for example), the water reverses course and heads back toward the CME 5 Plus pump. The 1/2 gallon expansion tank absorbs the shock of the water, relieving stress on your water pipes.

CME 5 Plus pumps are designed to start and stop over and over again without causing damage to to pump's motor. The VFD (variable frequency drive) allows the motor to gradually ramp up to meet the actual flow and pressure demand within the range of the pump's performance capabilities. Unlike a traditional on demand pumps that come on at full speed every time they turn on, the CME 5 Plus only runs the motor at the speed that is needed to meet the demand for water.

The CME 5 Plus provides constant water pressure for a variety of domestic applications. This means that the end-user is no longer bothered by fluctuations in water pressure due to a rise or fall in demand, or from pump starts and stops. CME 5 Plus keeps the pressure within the home up regardless of usage. The constant pressure feature provides the benefit of increased comfort.

In addition, the CME 5 Plus makes it possible to personalize the water pressure. By the touch of a button the pressure level is increased or decreased as desired.

The CME Plus incorporates a stop function ensuring that the pump automatically stops if the water demand drops to a very low level or stops altogether. The method gives good total operating economy irrespective of the water demand, and the pump is not subjected to overheating and the subsequent risk of damage to the shaft seal.

The CME 5 Plus pump has an integrated Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) which provides a wide range of unique benefits:

All Grundfos products come with a 2-year warranty that fully complies with legal requirements. The warranty covers product and material defects which are not the results of normal wear and tear for a period of 24 months from the date of delivery. The warranty period may not, however, exceed 30 months from the date of production. Warranty claims will be rejected in the following situations: If the defect in the product arises from: -any drawing, design or specification supplied by the customer/purchaser -modifications undertaken by the customer/purchaser or a third party without the consent of Grundfos If a defect is caused by: -normal wear and tear -inadequate maintenance or faulty repair by others than Grundfos -failure to observe the operating instructions -over-loading -use of any unsuitable material -the effects of chemical or electrolytic action -building or assembly work not undertaken by Grundfos -other reasons beyond Grundfos' control As a general rule, Grundfos will not accept to pay transportation/replacement/installation costs for faulty products.
