People often ask us if the water inside of a poly tank will freeze when temps drop below 32 degrees. In Texas, where we are, it's uncommon for temps to be below freezing for several consecutive days. I took this picture inside of a 3K gallon tank today when it was 15 degrees for the 2nd day in a row, and it has been below freezing for about 4 days now. The top inch or so of water had frozen over. You can see our Liquidator 2 level gauge float frozen at the surface. I punched holes in the top layer of ice relatively easily with a steel pipe. Tonight's low is 5 degrees, and tomorrow's low is zero. We'll check on it again tomorrow to see where we're at.
Don't forget to insulate your ball valves and pipes! They will break and cause you to lose all of your stored water.
