Calcite is a natural mineral mined from the earth. A calcite filter cartridge is designed to raise pH and TDS of low pH / low mineral rain water by dissolving a small amount of healthy minerals in the rainwater as it passes through the cartridge.
Calcite raises pH of rainwater to around a neutral 7.0.
Calcite should not to be confused with systems designed to produce unnaturally high mineral or "alkaline" water.
