Jim Wood has been an active player in the rainwater harvesting industry since 2012. His e-commerce background made him an ideal choice to lead Rain Harvesting Supplies’ online effort, and soon after getting up to speed in the world of rainwater collection, he quickly became one of the fledgling industry’s most successful salespeople.

“Helping professionals in the rainwater business solve problems and be successful is what I enjoy,” Jim says. After spending a few years with Rain Harvesting Supplies, Jim started his own company with wife and business partner, Mitzi Wood. The model for Rainwater Equipment LLC was very similar to RHS in that it focused its attention on installation professionals.

“We never wanted to be installers. It just wasn’t our strength,” Jim says. “We’re good at helping installers get the equipment that they need to do their jobs.”

And that is apparently how Rainwater Equipment has stayed successful, by providing equipment (pumps, UV systems, level gauges, etc.) to installers at a discount while also offering them product support, such as pump sizing.

“We give preferential treatment to our installation customers, because they’re the ones who are literally in the trenches every day doing the work, and we know if we take care of them, they’ll continue to do business with us,” Jim says.

In 2019, the Wood family purchased the assets of Jim’s previous employer, Rain Harvesting Supplies, and as a result, the size of their business doubled overnight. “We were very excited to have the opportunity to grow our share of the market so quickly,” Jim says. “Re-connecting with Rain Harvesting Supplies after being apart from it for a few years, was special. It’s where I got my start in the business.”

The Wood family continues to run Rainwater Equipment LLC & RH Supplies LLC (DBA: Rain Harvesting Supplies) as separate companies, and both companies continue to put their installation professional customers first.
